There is much truth in the above statement that sums up what power can do to normal mortals. The feeling of acquiring authority and power works like an intoxicant on people directly affecting their brains. This results in making that person arrogant, proud and audacious. They think the power with them can get away with almost everything. The result is corruption, where people think that there is no accountability for their actions.
History has witnessed several examples of good men who not only became corrupt when they rose to power, but also led to catastrophe and havoc with the destiny of their country and humanity. The best known example before us is that of Adolf Hitler who was first a patriot, but no sooner did he became powerful, he made the way for second world war. The mass killing of Jews under his reign shall be a blot on the history of mankind. Indian history is replete with examples of Rajas and Maharajas who became corrupt and immoral while enjoying absolute powers.
“THE GREATER THE POWER THE MORE DANGEROUS THE ABUSE”
The circumstances in the world today are witnessing the abuse of power .Syria is on the verge of extinction, who cares. The abuse of power is killing mankind. There is no humanity left in the hearts of attacking country that how children are becoming orphans within seconds, people are losing their family, our mother earth is burnt, the resources are destroyed .The irony here is that the powerful people are not using their power to stop this evil , just sitting and watching the abuse of power with closed eyes. Shame on mankind. Pity on us to be called human beings.
People whom we are electing as our representatives are making fool of us.The political leaders, IAS officers, bureaucrats, all the officers from top to bottom are corrupt. The condition our democratic country is pathetic where the citizens are targeted by powerful leaders to meet their malicious ends. The government is bloated and infested with fraud and deceit.
The need of the hour is to have a proper system to have a check and balance on all people occupying positions of power and authority. Stringent laws should be made for early identification of corrupt people so that they are held accountable on time. This would result in deterring others from doing any corrupt act because of power. The true human is one who uses power in a correct way for the benefit of others, not to destroy others.Time has come to speak out for your rights.
